Arts Volunteering provides children and young people with exciting opportunities to get involved in creative arts activities, encouraging them to form a lasting enthusiasm for the arts and an awareness of arts heritage and its conservation.

Our Society, in association with The Arts Society Poole and The Arts Society Bournemouth and East Dorset, arranged a lecture titled 'How We Got Ikea! - Scandinavian Design C1880-1960' given by Professor Anne Anderson on Monday 27th January 2020.  All Sixth Form Art Students in our combined local areas were invited to attend. The Arts University Bournemouth kindly allowed us to use their Lecture Theatre and Refectory for refreshments after the lecture. Students and Staff from 9 schools attended plus Students from AUB. A wonderful array of cakes were supplied by Society Members.

The Societies hope to be able to arrange another lecture for A Level Students again next year. If any Schools or Pupils have a subject that they would like to be covered, please get in touch!

Following on from the 2019 Volunteer Impact Report findings and analysis of the Young Arts Annual Reports over the past few years it was agreed that 'Young Arts' no longer worked as a term to cover much of the work currently being carried out. by societies. Societies are now funding and supporting a wider range of arts projects in their local communities working with schools and colleges as well as inter-generational groups, those in prison, refugees, the homeless, people with disabilities, mental health issues, those in hospital, respite, hospices, choirs, orchestras  and theatre - the list is endless and the work hugely impressive. It's time to change. Arts Volunteering is the new name covering societies' work in the community, young and old, giving access to the Arts for everyone.
